On Tuesday June 12, Sustain Ward 3 sponsored the Safety on Summit Town Hall at Macalester College. We want to thank everyone who was able to attend.

The goal of the SOS campaign is to push for safety improvements along the busiest (and oldest) bike route in Saint Paul including separated bike lanes and better markings and signals at intersections for both bike and pedestrian traffic. The town hall was attended by over 80 people who shared their stories, ideas, suggestions and questions about Summit Avenue and how to make it safer for everyone who uses it.

In addition to the town hall, Sustain Ward 3 launched the Safety On Summit Petition about 1 month ago. To date almost 500 people have added their signature to the petition that we intend to deliver to the Saint Paul City Council by the end of the summer. You can add your name to the petition here.

We’ll be posting some of the comments and ideas from the town hall and our Facebook page captured most of the meeting live and you can find video here.

For now, here is a news story that focused on last night’s town hall.
